Treatment Instructions for Pet Owners
Every pet’s allergy condition is unique. Therefore, the dose and interval
between allergy treatment injections in pets with atopic dermatitis should be tailored
according to the animal’s response. Regular re-evaluations or “re-checks” (especially
during the first year) with your veterinarian are essential for achieving the best results.

 |
|
Note: The goal of treatment is to control your pet's allergy. The initial
series of injections are given at 4-day intervals. The intervals are gradually increased based
on your pet's response. (See Suggested Guidelines in Table.)
It is recommended that the first 11 injections be given in the clinic. Thereafter,
if giving the injections at home, keep a record of date, dose and response of the pet to all of the injections.
Start with an initial series of injections (Vial #1 with lower concentration of allergen) and then
progress to a maintenance series (Vial #2 with higher concentration of allergen). Below are the suggested
injection volumes and intervals for both series.

Getting Allergy Treatments Started
If you have elected to continue allergy treatment injections at home, there are
several important rules to follow:
- Keep the treatment vials refrigerated (35°– 45° F)
when not in use. Do Not Freeze.
- Use a NEW needle and syringe for each
injection. Administer injections subcutaneously
(under the skin) as instructed by your veterinarian.
Note: Exercise extreme care to avoid injection of
the allergen into the blood stream. AFTER insertion
of the needle and BEFORE injection of the allergen,
pull back gently on the plunger of the syringe. If
blood enters the syringe, do NOT inject the allergen.
Reposition the needle and check again for blood
before injecting.
- Observe your pet for at least 1 hour after
the injection.
- A small amount of redness and itchiness may
be seen at the site of the injection. Application
of cool compresses and an antihistamine as
prescribed by your veterinarian may help
relieve symptoms.
- If your pet becomes very itchy after an injection
or shows any signs of hives, weakness, vomiting,
diarrhea, pale gums or difficulty breathing—
call your veterinarian immediately. These are
symptoms of possible serious reactions.

Order refill vial 30 days before needed.
Continue with treatment unless instructed otherwise. Treatment is likely to be lifelong.
Pets may remain on antihistamines, fatty acids and topical therapies while starting treatment.
Most animals show a response to treatment within 4–12 months. Consult with your veterinarian on how to control your pet’s itchiness in
the meantime.
If itchiness returns in a previously well-controlled animal, the pet should be re-checked by your veterinarian.
*If your pet becomes itchier with an injection and the increased itchiness lasts for more than 48 hours, please contact your veterinarian
for recommendations.
