Job Summary:

This is a part time position reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer ideal for a college student. The work flow will be highly variable – some weeks will have heavy requests and other weeks there will be no work required. In many cases, the timing of the workflow will be predictable (early/mid-November, late March/early April, early/mid May and early/mid August tend to be the busiest). However, part of the job responsibility is “surge capacity” especially where Heska is considering a major corporate event. It is expected this individual will work outside of the office on a company-provided computer in many cases once the individual has learned the reports that need to be prepared. Most of these reports can be prepared at any time, but there are important deadlines at which the reports must be prepared (e.g. public valuation report needed first thing Monday morning for a Board book).

Responsibilities:

  • Business process analysis
    • Participate in due diligence activities on merger or acquisition candidates as directed by the Chief Financial Officer
    • Conduct cash flow based valuation analysis of merger or acquisition candidates as directed by the Chief Financial Officer
    • Prepare monthly valuation reports for public companies of interest to Heska
    • Prepare valuation reports of private sales of companies of interest to Heska as necessary
    • Conduct preliminary accounting merger/acquisition consequences analysis for potential merger or acquisition candidates as directed by the Chief Financial Officer
    • Conduct research based on public information on industry sectors of interest to Heska, including potential merger or acquisition candidates in those industry sectors
    • Prepare reports on the business, recent and projected financial results, historical financial results and trends, recent developments, management, board of directors, ownership, location, number of employees, stock trading and other matters for companies of interest to Heska

  • Public Data Gathering, Organizing and Analyzing
    • Conduct a quarterly shareholder analysis for Heska and other companies of interest to Heska
    • Conduct a quarterly analysis of Heska’s 401(k) investments and prepare reports for review by the Chief Financial Officer and Investment Committee if necessary

  • Special Projects
    • Prepare reports or presentations based on publicly available information for business matters of interest to Heska
    • Participate in other discrete projects directed by individuals other than the Chief Financial Officer or other projects directed by the Chief Financial Officer

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated values and beliefs consistent with the company’s culture. Must display the desire and ability to conduct oneself in a manner consistent with the Heska Corporation Code of Business Conduct and Promise & Creed
  • High school degree
  • Passed a basic financial accounting class in an accredited college or university with an “A”
  • Proficiency with MS Excel, MS Access and other quantitative software. Experience with Lotus 1-2-3 a plus but no necessary
