Product Overview
Benefits and Features
Benefits
- Detect albumin at a sensitivity up to 30 times higher than conventional dipsticks, providing
the most sensitive measure of kidney damage available.
- Alert you to the presence of kidney damage that could be caused by many common
inflammatory, infectious, metabolic and neoplastic diseases.
- Excellent monitoring tools that indicate the severity of disease, treatment success and
progression of kidney damage.
Features
- Quick results in less than 5 minutes, allowing additional blood/urine
sampling if needed while patient is still present.
- Extremely accurate, no false positive results.
- Semi-quantitative. Shows negative, low, medium, high and very high
positive test results.
The kidneys can act as a window to an animal's internal health.
- The kidneys filter an animal's entire blood volume every 30 minutes.
- Many disease conditions can result in the release of toxins or other damaging factors into the blood.
- Those toxins can damage the kidneys during the filtration process.

Now you can detect even small amounts
of kidney damage with the Canine and
Feline E.R.D.-Healthscreen® Urine Tests.
The E.R.D.-HealthScreen® Urine Tests detect small amounts of albumin in the urine ("microalbuminuria"). Microalbuminuria (MA) has been clinically defined as levels of albumin in the urine greater than normal (1 mg/dL) and less than overt proteinuria (30 mg/dL) at a standardized specific gravity of 1.010.
Conventional urine tests (urine specific gravity, BUN, creatinine) don't detect kidney damage until ~70% of kidney function is lost.

E.R.D.-HealthScreen® Urine Tests
- Identify early renal damage
- Improve patient care
The tests are semi-quantitative and can be run in about 5 minutes. Simply measure specific gravity of the sample, dilute in the dilution tube if necessary, drop in the test device and read results 3 minutes later.
The presence of microalbuminuria is not normal and may indicate the presence of a disease
condition in the dog or cat.

How can the E.R.D.-HealthScreen® Urine Tests be used in your clinic?
- Add to all pre-surgical exams.
- Animals that test positive with the E.R.D.-HealthScreen® Urine Tests have kidney damage. Modify your anesthetic protocol by pre-loading fluids, etc. to protect kidneys from further damage. Retest and monitor positive patients to assess the severity of kidney damage over time.
- Add to all geriatric exams.
- Identify and track kidney damage early. The E.R.D.-HealthScreen® Urine Tests can detect kidney damage even when BUN, creatinine or urine specific gravity are in the "normal" range. Use the “3-Step Guide” to manage positive cases.
- Add to all middle-age health exams.
- Identify animals that need further examination and establish a baseline for healthy animals. Use the “3-Step Guide” to manage positive cases.
How do I get my clients to agree to testing?
- Utilize signage and client consent forms to gain client agreement.
- Use the exam room aid and client brochures to educate clients on the value of kidney testing.
- Make the tests a standard part of all pre-surgical and geriatric examinations.
